OUR MISSION
ARBOVAX™, Inc. has a unique technology that modifies arthropod-borne viruses (arboviruses) making them unable to replicate in mammalian cells. Arbovax will leverage this technology through partnerships with pharmaceutical companies to facilitate the development of a portfolio of new and improved human vaccines against the worldwide threat of arthropod-borne diseases.
Arbovax will focus on the research and development of a unique and proprietary technology that can be used to make vaccines to target unmet clinical needs in markets that have traditionally been neglected by major vaccine producers. Arbovax intends to engage in the preclinical and clinical development of vaccine products for the prophylactic treatment of arthropod-borne diseases that collectively infect over 100 million people annually and put over 2.5 billion people at risk of infection. The business strategy of the Company is to develop the technology to a point where it can be licensed to commercial partners for manufacture and distribution. Arbovax’s patent-protected technology is based upon multiple deletions in the transmembrane portion of the virus allowing it to replicate in insect cells, but not in mammalian cells. This forms the basis for the creation of a family of vaccines that offer the following advantages:
Safety |
Modified virus does not replicate in the patients’ cells allowing development of immunity in the absence of disease. Tests have shown no reversion to wild type virus over time. |
Efficacy |
Vaccine produced using this technology provides all epitopes of the virus and is immunologically indistinguishable from the wild type. |
Cost Effective |
Cost of production will be significantly less than recombinant technology as the modified virus can be easily grown in a standard insect-cell reactor. A pilot lot can be produced under GMP and FDA approved guidelines at significantly less than 10? per dose. |
